Clearly putting your whole stack in on middle set when there's a straight on the board is a good idea...grrrrr

Still, it could have been so much worse - when this next river came I thought I'd been done over, but it turned out ok!

Up and Down Month

So, May draws to a close and it has been an up and down one. The biggest sessions have been:

+£513
+£362
+£361

-£387
-£470
-£528

Basically I had a good start making £1,510, then an awful run losing £1,448, then a last minute rally of £979. Overall +£1,040, making me +£647 for the year.

These stats do hide a multitude of sins however, such as playing some $10/$20 NLHE and PLO, where dropping a buy-in at NLHE was offset by a sneaky double up at PLO. Really I'm not bankrolled for anything above $2/$4 at the moment but it is fun to have a pop at the larger games.

On the tournament front I played some more of the DreamTeam events, managing a couple of minor cashes. The live final is this Saturday which should be fun, plus I'm planning on playing in a £200 PLO tournament at the GutShot club on the Friday night as a warm up (ok, so playing PLO may not be the best warm up for a NLHE tourney....)

Finally, my good friend Howard has decided to give up work (well, for 3 months at least) to play poker, golf, and spend "quality time" with the kids. Let's see where the % time spent ends up...! He is chronicalling this on http://pokersmith2.blogspot.com so check it out.

Why do bad things happen when you're down?

So having played like a muppet and lost 3.5 buy-ins at $1-$2 I switched to $2-$4 to get something back. About 3 hands in I call an UTG raise from a 18/14 player with JT on the button. Flop come AKQ, he leads out, I re-raise, he shoves, I call. He has AA and the turn brings a king...

My BR on Full Tilt at the moment seems to be swinging between $8k and $6k. Every time it looks like I'm getting a good run going I have a knock back and am back down to where I started at the beginning of the month. Currently on $6,200 after the above -$1k session :-(
